DLC is accepting resumes for teachers with experience in Chemistry/Science, Elementary Subjects, High School Homework Support, Mathematics and Spanish, but will also consider applicants with strengths in other areas.

Our teachers set their own schedules and conduct tutoring sessions on a weekly basis, maintain accurate records for each student and prepare quarterly progress reports. The office handles all billing and scheduling.


Applicants must:

  • possess a current California teaching credential

  • exhibit a high level of proficiency in subject(s) being tutored

  • submit to a criminal background check

  • provide a negative TB test

  • demonstrate excellent organizational skills

English/Spanish Bilingual is a HUGE plus!

Delta Learning Center – Part Time Director

The Delta Learning Center (DLC) is a non-profit dedicated to meeting the educational needs of all students in the Contra Costa County community. We ensure the highest quality individual academic support by employing only fully credentialed teachers. Since 1976, the Delta Learning Center has been providing individualized tutoring to thousands of students in East Contra Costa County. As a non-profit organization we strive to charge our clients as little as possible.

The Delta Learning Center is searching for an experienced, compassionate, detailed oriented candidate for our Part Time Director position. Our ideal candidate must have strong leadership and organizational skills, oral and written communication skills and possess a thorough understanding of state standards for education. This position reports to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Team Building: Recruiting and hiring highly qualified credentialed teachers and staff who will provide a learning environment.

  • Educational Management: Adhering to state teaching standards and safety regulations.

  • Marketing: Creating a marketing plan to share our unique high-quality program throughout the community through special events, tours, and Social Media.

  • Communications and Customer Service: Meeting with parents and tutors to tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of each individual student. Remaining in constant communication with parents about the progress of their children and provide superior customer service.

  • Grant Writing and Fundraising: Research and apply for grants and generate fundraising events.


Requirements Include:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s in education, counseling, public administration, non-profit management, or a related field; experience in budget management, personnel supervision in the delivery of services; community outreach; experience in grant writing.

  • Three years in an educational environmental

  • Strong communications and time management skills

  • Ensures compliance with relevant workplace and employment laws

  • Create a company culture that encourages growth, motivation, and success.

  • Provides training and supervision for each staff member or volunteer   

  • Maintains positive employee relations

  • Monitor all projects

  • Proficiency in office software

  • Proficiency in managing Social Media

  • Experience in accounting to process the centers expenditures and revenue

  • Knowledge of child development and California State Standards and Benchmarks

  • Ability to read and understand Individual Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans

  • Patience and flexibility

  • Familiarity with on-line educational platforms

  • Ability to delegate


Duties Include:

  • Scheduling students and teachers

  • Hiring credentialed teachers

  • Returning phone calls and emails

  • Phone and email messages need to be picked up at noon - to notify teachers of schedule changes

  • Provide monthly financial information to the Accounting firm

  • Maintaining facility

  • Expenditures above and beyond day-to-day operations requires board approval

  • Director and Board will work together using County, Volunteer, and/or Apprentice organizations to secure a volunteer assistant every working day.

  • Overseeing a volunteer support system and/or office support person

  • Maintaining current COVID-19 Protocols for social distancing, cleaning and disinfecting

  • Marketing and Social Media

  • Prepare reports for the Board on number of students, tutoring hours and financial information

  • Attend monthly Board meetings

  • Maintain positive relationships with members of community outreach programs, school districts, individuals, donors, funders, supporters, and the community at large.

  • Occasionally travel throughout Contra Costa County

  • May temporarily work remote due to COVID-19

  • Virtual meetings as necessary

  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Type: Part time position

Benefits: No additional benefits

Location: Antioch, CA


Working Days:

Monday – Thursday, daytime/evening hours and occasional weekends, depending on sessions during summer time or school year.


Hours a Week:
Delta Learning Center is open Monday – Thursday. The Director will open the office at least 30 minutes prior to the first scheduled tutoring session.

Approximately 20-30 hours a week


Physical Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
